He is enrolled in a very nice school but that not really the truth. See every sunday either the parents call their kids or come up to see them and when they do they always ask "what did you eat last night" the children will say steak and this is true though the steak is hard and small.

Holden is a nice kid who might sometimes get on your nerves and is not the brightest scholar out there. Half the hair on his head is turning gray and he smoke to many cigerates for them to not affect his health. Holden decides that since he is going to be kick out of this school in a couple of days he might as well leave. This book is a story of his life in the big city.

When Holden decides to go to the city he makes sure he has enough money and he does his grandmother is always very generous with her christmas donations. He sets out to stay at a not so fancy and when he gets there he tries to buy a scotch and soda but they wont give it to him as he is under age, this is something that drive him crazy because he wants to be an adult but no matter what he still gets treated like a kid.

His stay in Manhattan also changes him. One night he comes back to the hotel very late and is not tired but very bored. The bellhop notices this and tell him he can send up a girl for five bucks. Holden doesn't really want to but he says yes to the man. When the girl comes al he wants to do is talk so she leaves but not before getting five bucks. The bellhop and the girl tomorrow saying he owes them five dollars, Holden wont pay him so the bellhop knocks him out and the girl takes the money and they walk out.

In conclusion Holden as dumb as this trip to the city was, he grows and matures from it. He learns a thing or to about certain kinds of people and who they can be, which is good so now he's not going to get husstled again or at least I hope he won't. He also learns that even though he is a kid he wouldn't really want to be an adult yet because a child's life is just to much fun.peterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00794674026348285435noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3611419744391142276.post-70295800417282875592011-05-08T12:50:00.000-07:002011-05-08T12:50:51.095-07:00artifactsYouth:
The main character, Nick Twisp, lives with his mom and the man she is dating at the time(through out the book his mom has many boyfriends). Nick's life changes when he goes on a family vacation to the beach with his mom and her boyfriend Jimmy at the time. When they get to the beach he meets a girl named Sheene Sanders. At first she doesn't notice him then she started to really like him and they started to hang out. When its time for him to leave they exchange numbers and he went back home, when they talk on the phone he relizes that something is wrong so to impress her ne dicides to blow up a building. Because of his actions he has to go move in with his dad who lives near Sheene, but when he goes there he finds out that Sheene is in a boarding school and is now over 100 miles away. This is the end of the first book.peterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00794674026348285435noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3611419744391142276.post-49035126573420195372011-02-13T15:52:00.000-08:002011-02-13T15:52:19.472-08:00SONNETThe hardest thing in the world is writing
there are so many rules it is very hard
dyslexia is forever fighting
the words are scrambled like a spinning card.

Guess what, if you can't read then you can't write
writing's the most essential subject too
and to read the words is a blinding light
forever fighting a battle with you.

Although tis hard I love to read my books
they are full of magic and even lies
I first read in third grade and got some looks
although it was very hard I did try.
if I can write then I have won the fight.peterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00794674026348285435noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3611419744391142276.post-53281348002256219932011-02-01T16:25:00.000-08:002011-02-01T16:25:37.608-08:00Authors note Maturity is some that your suposed to get more of every year you get older. Maybe at seven your parents expected you to stop weting the bed and at ten to start doing chores and at the thirteen to begin to start planning for your future. But really isn't that far ahead into the future and why do i have to "be more mature" or anything like that i have all the time of my adulthood to "be mature" so why do they actspect a hormone crazed up kid to be more mature and no i dont have angst to those of you that question that I have no anxienty because if you go with the flow and try hard then thing will sometimes work out but you just have to enjoy yourself and not take everything to seriously.peterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00794674026348285435noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3611419744391142276.post-15483298221163749782011-01-30T16:00:00.000-08:002011-02-07T08:30:15.516-08:00JANUARY reading challengeReading a book that is all poems is very different then reading a regular book. It is a different format and to understand the book you have to really understand the poems. This is what is making up the whole book. When I was reading Sold though it felt at times that I was reading a regular book. But Sold was very differeent then reading Impulse because in the book Impulse there are much more complex poems that deal with very complictated topics that to someone who could not understand the poems would not understand the book at all and they would be just as lost as I was.peterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00794674026348285435noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3611419744391142276.post-9609988706418453192011-01-30T14:52:00.000-08:002011-01-30T14:52:54.959-08:00JORDANS I think that it is interesting that this character talks about needing new "gear" in such a serious way. The author pulls you in so that you have to read more and find about what will happen. By the way it is written this is almost like a short story and you are dying to know what will happen next to the man. He says that his crew is making fun of him and that he needs new gear, so this can mean that he may be getting peer pressure from his friends but really when it comes down to killing someone you are the one whos choses wether to do it or not.peterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00794674026348285435noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3611419744391142276.post-55289981831977262232011-01-14T10:16:00.000-08:002011-01-14T10:16:38.315-08:00My mentor

By the way the colors blend with each other and work so well to give the painting the feeling of timelessness. The way the water stays at bay gives you the feeling that no single person has ever been to this spot, but then you see the bridge and you know that people have been there. The lilies stand out from all else, as they are brighter then everything around them. The shading and the way light is hitting the grass you can also tell that it is sunny outside As you move your eyes to the left, it slowly begins to become dark, giving you the feeling that it might be spring and it is cool outside. These are some things that you can interpret from this painting. peterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00794674026348285435noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3611419744391142276.post-37683839321157653072010-12-21T12:17:00.000-08:002011-01-10T17:04:48.630-08:00The final Harry Potter The last Harry Potter book has been made into a movie, a two part movie. Now although it is a good idea since it was a very long book, but it seems like they are trying to make the most money that they can. Also I think it would have been nicer if the release dates of the to parts were a little close to each other, even if that means that they had the first half and are ready to go months before they started on the second half. Though it is interesting that they sretched out the the movie so much.
Compared to the book, I think that this is the most closely related by far. Maybe it's the fact that it was so long or that for some reason they decided not to cut a lot of details out from this book. The movie also takes on to the adult appeal making little side comments here and funny jokes there. It was interesting to see that Harry and his friends really had grown up and that they are more mature more.
This concludes my opinion of the Harry Potter movie and book.peterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00794674026348285435noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3611419744391142276.post-5677544707494992772010-12-16T11:13:00.000-08:002011-01-06T10:29:41.836-08:00picture bookWhen Jimmy woke up and opened his eyes, all he could think of was his Birthday. "Today is the day!" He screamed making sure that everyone in his house could hear him.

As he ran down the stairs and into the kitchen," Well let me guess today is your Birthday" she said.
'' Yes and soon I will be ten years old," he squealed.
'' Would you like something to eat honey?" Jimmy's mother asked him.

His mother reached into the icebox and pulled out some bread. Bread was all they ate now ever since his father lost his job they have been living off bread lines. Those lines, where Jimmy's mother would wait on all day just so they could eat stale bread for every meal.

" Aw, ma don't we have anything else?" he asked.
" I'm sorry sweety but your father and I are very tight on money ever since he lost his job, we have to be thankful that we have food. The Pattersons have nothing at least your father had some savings under the bed," she said.

After Jimmy's meager breakfast he went out to play with his friends. Ever since all of Jimmy's friends' parents and his parents lost their jobs Jimmy and his friends started playing a new game. Money Quest, the point of the game was to find money whereever they could, most of the time they found nothing but today Jimmy found a nickel!

When Jimmy walked in the door he felt pretty good about finding the nickel. Standing in front of him were his parents with a toy in their hands. Jimmy recognized it, it used to belong to his grandfather and it was not what he wanted for his birthday.

" Why are you giving me grandpa's toy I know what this is and it is cheap!" Jimmy yelled.
" Son these are hard times and money is scarce and you should be thankful that you have a home the Pattersons just had to leave theirs." His father said.

When Jimmy heard this he felt terrible that he was complaining about his toy but he knew what he really wanted so he told his parent he was going out and left. Jimmy walked to the corner store and asked the man how much he could get for the toy. The man said that it was his lucky day because he was holding the very first model of the company.

The man gave him 97 cents and he walked out. He then walked to the butcher and asked how much a chicken was, he said 1 dollar. "No!" Jimmy thought but then he remembered the nickel was still in his pocket. He took it out and payed for the chicken and then walked home.

When his parents ask "Honey were did you get the money for that" he replied.
" I sold my toy but it was worth i'm hungry." After then had eaten dinner and put away the leftover's they walked up stairs fealing full.

"Best Birthday ever" Jimmy said.peterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00794674026348285435noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3611419744391142276.post-84876723270774980102010-11-22T08:19:00.000-08:002010-11-22T08:19:47.543-08:00picture book topic 2 The great depression was a period in time when the stock market had just crashed and people were losing their jobs. 1 in 4 americans were out of jobs and very few places were even hiring people let alone were still even in busniess. Even the wealth people were being affected by this huge problem. People were doing anything they could to make money even begging for it. Until it was outlawed children were going out to make money for their families. Some families depended on bread lines, a place where goverment workers handed out bread to people who would wait on huge lines for it. Across the country men who could not find job's would take trains and go looking for work they were called hoboes.

Many people blame the stock market crash for the great depression, they say that if the stock market hadn't crash no one would know what the great depression was. Although the stock market did play a role in the cause for the great depression but there are many other things that are a contributor. One cause of the great depression is the rolling twenties, during this time period everyone was interested in having fun and spending money. During this period america had never been making more money but the gap between the rich and the poor just got bigger and bigger.peterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00794674026348285435noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3611419744391142276.post-76572286338679244682010-11-21T16:50:00.000-08:002010-11-21T16:50:48.622-08:00Appreciation In the book The Giver there are so many things to talk about. Although it is called a children's book there are many mature things the go on in it. By the means of the towns people the world that they live in is considered to be perfect. They live in a world with out pain in they get hurt they are given medication to cause the pain to go away. No one truly knows what pain is and they don't not even understand the word pin because in there town the word is never used because no one is ever in pain or is feeling any thing else then what there perfect world lets them feel. All they do feel is pleasure thats what they live in. They live in a world without pain despair or even evil's.
It is the job of the receiver of memory to experience all the suffering the world can give and jonas has to live through these horrible memories just so that the rest of the people in his town can go on with there innocent lives while he bears all the pain had has to suffer until he dies because the towns people aparently would not be able to handle the idea of pain. The giver who is giving Jonas the memories is tormented by the memories of what he has seen they cause him on certain days to force him not to be able to do anything but rock back and forth in his chair. Jonas knows the knew he completes his job he will become the giver and then he will be living in pain just as the giver does.
They say that the word love is to strong and that they apreciate Jonas and enjoy him as company. I think that this is the most monstorous thing I have ever heard because how can you say that to your son he greatly looks up to you and would be joyous if you just said yes, I mean even lying would have been better. Though from this question he starts to see ho messed up his town truly is and how all of the people have been raised.
Auschwitz, a Nazi death camp. These death camps targeted jews, gypsies, soviet POW's ( prisoners of war), twins, and even children. During the holocaust many death camp had medical doctors in the camps and these men would performed series of surgeries of the women and children. If the children were not killed right after ariving at the death camps they were experimented on by Josef Mengele. Who became famous for his operations on twins, Mengele had a strange liking for twins he wouldperform all types of operations and injections on them. If they even survived these experiments they would die days laterfrom infections or the pain from what had been done to them. It was recorded the Mengele took a pair of twins a sewn themtogether, creating in his eyes a pair of siamese twins. The twins died days later from a hand ifection were they had been jioned. As you can tell Auscwitz was terrible but what happened there is even worse.
Although this is a graphic novel it deals with mature idea's, when David is little he gets dressed up like Alice from Alice in Wonderland and goes out to play. He is chased by the other little kids and is called "GAY", for doing this. Later in the book David develops a small growth on the side of his neck, when he asks his mother if he can go to the doctor his mother says "no doctors cost money and that is in scare supply in this house." Then finally when he goes and has it removed there has to be a second operation to take place because it turns out that the growth is cancerous. So in this book although it is a graphic novel there are still big issues in it.peterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00794674026348285435noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3611419744391142276.post-77274332668010116632010-11-05T06:07:00.000-07:002010-11-05T06:07:34.052-07:00A Social PoemWhy o why
Although while the school scores were going up the students from all around report card went down. 40% of the school recieved a grade "A" and put together only 10% of the school's recieved a "D" or lower. If you get a good grade it says that you can get a cash bonus, But if you get a "D" or "F" or even three "C"s in a row your school can be officially shut down.
Credit card offer 0% APR on their credit cards. Going through this ecounemy has been very hard but it now seems that there is a beaken of hope in a mass of darkness. Maybe with this new allowance people may start spending more money and get the company back to life again. With this hope that busnicusses might grow we start to hope that they will.
Brooklyn familly sues city over Asmtha related death. This family is sueing the city police department for child neglect. The officer that found when she was in the middle of an asthma attack was unable to do anything aparently because he was not trained on how to preform CPR. To protest on the idea that the city was not training their police the right way and after a march the NYPD pasted a new bill saying that requires police officers to trained and recertifed in CPR annually.peterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00794674026348285435noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3611419744391142276.post-84778922401456541102010-10-18T14:12:00.000-07:002010-10-18T14:12:45.611-07:00apreciation In this book by far you have to apreciate Jonas. In there civilization there are to many rules and they put them in complete and there are strict. They have many problems in there town but they are looked at as flaws rather than actaul problems.
Jonas has the self power to break some of the rules and he can get away with them because he is the reciever and if he dies the people get the memories and then they will be in pain.
So in this book you have to love jonas's doubt to the laws and how he breaks them.peterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00794674026348285435noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3611419744391142276.post-43904796710416639432010-10-07T09:04:00.000-07:002010-10-07T09:04:14.940-07:00The Giver entry 6 In the giver Jonas likes Fiona and when his parent find out he is forced to take a pill. The pill takes away his feelings of liking Fiona but is this right. should he be forced to take this pill what is it and what exactly does it do.

In the book they talk about sameness and why it is so good. They cant help themselves and they think that it is for the best. They fear the idea of being able to make their own chioces and they dont even understand how it would work.

The scary thing is that no one notices that they are slaves to the sameness and that they enjoy it. It is in this book almost a dictatorship and they are open to it.peterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00794674026348285435noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3611419744391142276.post-65811818043146193922010-09-29T15:23:00.000-07:002010-09-29T15:23:41.937-07:00Charlottes web In the book charlottes web i feel that you have to really apreciate charlotte. She is the only reason that wilbur is alive. I think their relationship is held together by the fact that they both need each other to live. Charlotte when they first meet is very inteligent and has a big vocabulary. She is very kind and i think this is amazing because her and wilbur are almost the same person. They both get alough fine and they both make each other happy and have fun. In a way wilbur keeps Charlotte alive to, he entertains her and keeps her smileling till the day she dies.peterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00794674026348285435noreply@blogger.com1
